Florida Keystone

Authentic Florida Keystone

From the Florida Keys

Cut from areas under construction in the Florida Keys, this rustic coral stone is swirled with large amounts of brain and fan corals. Consistent, very white, with many large and small holes. Seen on South Beach hotels, Lincoln Road, Fisher Island Estates and countless Florida homes, this is a one-of-a-kind authentic material.

The Patina Process

Due to its high porosity, Authentic Florida Keystone is difficult to seal and maintain clean in exterior applications. Coral Classics by A&P does not recommend sealing it for exterior use.

The most common approach is to install the material in a natural saw cut unfilled finish and allow it to patina naturally. When exposed to the elements, the stone passes through stages of green and black, eventually achieving the "Old Castle Look" — appearing thousands of years old.

If used in interior applications and not exposed to weather, the material will retain its original color as installed.

Architectural Applications

Authentic Florida Keystone can be fabricated into fireplaces, columns, door surrounds, and other custom architectural designs. Its rustic character adds an authentic Old World South Florida feel to any project.

Chipped edges, saw blade marks and other natural irregularities are inherent to this material. These "imperfections" are precisely what gives it the "Old World South Florida Feel" that makes it so sought after by designers.
